11 May To put one straight into Virat’s knee-first ball was pretty cool- Trent Boult
Trent Boult, the New Zealand left-arm pacer with a lot of experience and arguably the best Kiwi seamer after the maestro James Bond, is the best in the business when it comes to deadly in-swingers to right-handed batters.
Two weeks ago, in a match against RCB, Trent Boult achieved his 100 wickets in the Indian Premier League and has taken 10 wickets in 8 matches in IPL 2023. With this milestone, Boult achieved his favourite wicket in IPL 2023 with the dismissal of Indian batter Virat Kohli of the first ball in the 32nd game of IPL 2023.
Later, in an interview with ESPN Cricinfo, Boult said, “My kids had just got here. I was on 99 [IPL] wickets; it was about 700 degrees, and I was bowling to probably the best opening pair in the whole tournament. To put one straight into Virat’s knee-first ball was pretty cool. I don’t really normally give it too much celebration, but I quickly gave it a big turnaround to the family up in the hospitality area. I remember waking up at about 4 a.m. that morning because my kids were jet-lagged”.
Talking to my kids the previous day, I said, ‘Come on boys, you need to go to sleep. Daddy’s got a big game today. I’m playing against one of the best batters in the world.’ My oldest son said, ‘Are you going to get him out?’ I said, ‘Probably not, and I actually managed to! I couldn’t believe it,”
