16 Oct Ronaldinho in India : Brazilian legend tastes Bengali cuisine in Kolkata, opens up on Messi-Ronaldo
Ronaldinho, the Brazilian football legend, arrived in Kolkata for a two-day visit. Kolkata is known for its passion for football and the grand celebration of Durga Puja, making it an exciting destination for the football icon. Inaugurating Durga Puja pandals is a significant event in the city and it was wonderful that Ronaldinho was a part of the festivities. Amid the euphoria, Ronaldinho had a talk at Emami’s pre-Durga Puja event where he had conversations about many things. The former Barcelona, AC Milan player opened up on Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He also relished the Bengali cuisine.
He tasted a few Bengali dishes and emphasized on the importance of healthy foods for a professional footballer and any person. He mentioned that after retiring, he has indulged himself into many tasty foods which may have the extra calories in them.
“When I was an active footballer, I paid a lot of attention to nutrition. When you are a professional footballer, you have to be disciplined. However, after retirement, I have tried out a lot of things that are both tasty and healthy,” Ronaldinho said.
At the event, Ronaldinho was asked whether Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo can stay at their peak when the next World Cup in 2026 arrives. Cristiano Ronaldo is 38 and Messi is currently 36. Although they are going strong at the moment, it is a big question whether the machinery will remain the same in three years time.
But Ronaldinho says the duo can definitely make it to the next World Cup if they remain disciplined. “I definitely think both Messi and Ronaldo can make it to the next World Cup if they remain disciplined. There’s no question about their caliber and quality. If they can take care of their bodies and workload, I am sure they will feature in the next World Cup as well,” the Brazilian legend added.
Emami East Bengal’s coach, Carles Cuadrat, and the players from the team were present with Ronaldinho. The presence of both a football legend like Ronaldinho, the coach and players from a well-known Indian club added to the excitement of the event.
The charity match scheduled between Diamond Harbour FC and Shree Bhumi Sporting Club sounds like a wonderful initiative. Football has the power to bring communities together and can be used as a platform to support charitable causes. It’s heartening to see the sport being used for a good cause and Ronaldinho’s participation will likely draw more attention to the event and help raise funds for the charity.
